Installation & Activation Help

Before you start

• Back up your existing company file and keep the copy somewhere safe.
• Check you bought the edition that matches your file: Pro, Premier or Accountant, UK Edition.
• Have your delivery email open. It contains your licence details and the download instructions for your edition.
• Check your computer meets the requirements: a Windows PC (QuickBooks Desktop does not run on Mac).

Download

Your delivery email contains a download link for the installer of the exact edition you bought. Save the file to your computer before running it.

Only use the download link or file provided in your delivery email. Do not download installers from unknown websites.

Install

1. Close other programs and run the installer as a Windows administrator.
2. Choose the installation type offered for a single computer.
3. Enter the licence and product numbers from your delivery email exactly as shown.
4. Finish the installation and restart the computer if asked.

Activation

When QuickBooks asks, enter the licence number and product number from your delivery email exactly as shown. If activation does not complete, contact us with your order number and the exact message on screen and we will help.

Opening your company file

Open your backup copy first. If QuickBooks asks to update the file to the 2020 format, read the message carefully: an updated file generally cannot be opened in an older version again.

Reporting a problem

If something goes wrong, contact us and include:

• Your order number and the edition you bought
• Your Windows version
• The exact error message or error code, and the step where it appeared
• A screenshot, if you can take one
