Company files: opens UK Edition company files from QuickBooks Desktop Accountant. Files from older versions are updated to the 2020 format when opened, and an updated file generally cannot be opened in the older version again, so back up first.
Not compatible: company files from non-UK editions (for example US or Canadian).

Legacy software limitations

Legacy software. Intuit discontinued QuickBooks Desktop for UK customers, ending all UK Desktop services and support on 30 June 2023, and stopped development and updates for UK versions on the same date. QuickBooks Desktop cannot be used to submit Making Tax Digital (MTD) VAT returns: HMRC stopped accepting MTD for VAT submissions from all versions from 7 April 2024.
